Cardholders without Danish Social Security Number

How do I pay online without MitID?

A new requirement was introduced in Europe in 2020, stating that all online payments (with certain exceptions) must be confirmed by the buyer with a strong customer authentication which in Denmark is MitID.

If you do not have the possibility to get MitID, it is possible to create access with the alternative SMS solution. When paying, you can select "SMS password" under the MitID image. Here you have to confirm the purchase with a SMS code + a new, personal code.

Cardholders without a Danish CPR-number will receive a personal code via secure email - if you haven’t received a personal code, First Card customer service can be contacted on +45 70 20 63 09.

I am not a Danish citizen - can I get MitID?

You do not need to be a Danish national to obtain MitID, but you must have a CPR-number (SSN) and a valid ID.

To obtain MitID you can go to a citizen service centre, you can request MitID in your bank, or you can request MitID online at mitid.dk. To request MitID online you need a Danish driving license or a Danish passport.
